Hello - We're Marcus Kilgour and Danny Wilde aka Team Jäger Battalion. In July 2016, Danny and Marcus will be setting off on an epic Jäger fueled adventure - the 2016 Mongol Rally!
The rules are simple. Drive a completely unsuitable shit car from the UK over mountains and across deserts to Mongolia. No set route, and no backup.
Through France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgystan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia, we'll be driving "Bertha", a £280 2004 Vauxhall Agila from the UK to Mongolia, and hopefully home again through Russia.
What could possibly go wrong?!
We'll keep you updated throughout the trip. We've got an interactive map with GPS tracking so you can see where we've broken down. We'll upload videos, photos and blog entries wherever we find decent WiFi.We'll also post updates on Facebook - the link is at the bottom of this page.

MEET THE TEAM
I’m a dab hand when it comes to all things mechanical, and am the organised member of the team, as well as the epic DJ!
I’m bringing my electric guitar and amp so will aim to be the loudest Mongol Rally team!
I started the Mongol Rally last year, but things didn’t work out, so back this year to fulfill the bucket list and get a photo at the finish line in Ulan Ude!
I’ve wanted to do the rally for years, but time, money, skiing and sailing holidays always seemed to get in the way.
This year, I’ve cleared the decks for 10 weeks and counting down!
I live and work in Bath, South West UK, so if you’re local, let me know and we can share a couple of Jägers!

It was fantastic to welcome Danny to Bath last Thursday – this is the last time he’s over in the UK till the start of our adventure in July, and we had much to sort out – equipment lists, routes, camping amongst other things. I was amazed. After hearing horror stories from some teams trying to get a copy of their Uzbekistan visas, and the hoops they needed to fly through to get Letter of Invitations, my Uzbek visa stamp is all now sorted. Sending back our location is proving to be a bit of a dilemma. We could spend hundreds of pounds for a satellite tracking system like the awesome DeLorme inReach Explorer, but we don’t want to blow our budget. I’m amazed. Flabbergasted in fact! Bertha has flown through her MOT with only a couple of advisories on a bald tyre, a puncture, and a broken rear view mirror (blame Wayne!) Sadly the MOT doesn’t look at important things like the reliability of the engine, gearbox or clutch – but hey – what could possibly go wrong!

One of the highlights of the trip! The historical Pamir Highway, officially called M41, is an excellent challenge for a 4×4 adventure travelers.
